Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics Palette | Review + Demo

I’m so happy to finally be getting around to reviewing some of the things I bought in my Ulta Haul a month ago. First up is Urban Decay’s Naked2 Basics eyeshadow palette. I’ve been using it just about daily since I got it, and I love the cooler tones!

UD Naked 2 Box

Naked2 Basics is a cooler version of the popular Naked Basics matte palette. The Naked2 packaging looks very much like the original with the same soft-touch outer case, the same large mirror, and the same size and number of pans of eyeshadow.

The colors in Naked2 are cooler and pinker and there are more mid-tones than in the original.

The lightest color in each is the only non-matte in the palette. It’s got more of a satin or shimmery finish, but isn’t glittery. The darkest shade in the original palette is a true black, but in Naked2 it’s a warmer lighter grey/brown color.

I’m always on the hunt for a matte medium taupe eyeshadow and the 3rd pan in this palette could be the one! I’ve been using the lightest 3 shades a lot lately and getting so many compliments on my eyeshadow! They make a great go-to natural day look that compliments both warm and cool skin tones.

The quality of the shadows in Naked Basics is top notch while the quality seems to have gone down a peg with Naked2. The Naked2 Basics has the same gorgeous color saturation and blendability as the original Naked Basics, but the shadows aren’t as creamy as the original. I noticed on the first use that they’re dryer and chalkier so they leave a little crumb pile in the pan and have more fallout.

It’s not a deal breaker, but tapping off the excess shadow is essential to avoiding fallout landing on your cheeks.

Overall, Naked2 is a great palette with natural wearable colors. It’s compact size and big mirror make it great for travel, and the $29 price point makes it affordable. I’m glad I got it and can definitely recommend it!
