Epic Fails ~ Products That Just Didn’t Work (for me)

I don’t know why I’m still so disappointed when products are epic fails for me… After all, I loath way more products than I love! It’s the ones that promise to do great things for my skin that I’m the most hopeful about and also the most sad about when they just don’t work. I want nothing more than to receive THE wrinkle cream that actually works… and tell you about it!

I get offers all the time from cosmetics, skincare, hair care, and even clothing companies to try out their products and include them in a video. I turn down most of them, but I research some and if they seem promising I’ll take them and then give them a thorough testing before I do a video or recommend them to my viewers. I feel bad doing a bad review, but I figure, they took a chance by offering it to me and I invested time and energy into testing it. So, without further a due… here are 4 products that just didn’t work (for me).

Olay Regenerist Luminous Tone Correcting Moisturizer

Olay Regenerist Luminous Tone Perfecting Cream

Olay Regenerist Luminous Tone Perfecting Cream

This claims to fade dark spots in 8 weeks. It contains niacinamide, aloe, vitamin e, amino peptides, green tea, so I was pretty sure this would work and be great! I’ve had a bout with acne for the last 9 months so I have clusters of healing pimple spots on each cheek that take months to heal. I was looking forward to having those red spots as well as my other age related discolorations be diminished. Well, I used this religiously for 8 weeks and there was no difference in any spots on my face. But the problems with it don’t stop at it being ineffective… it’s also really difficult to use. It doesn’t play well with any other products that you might put over or under it including Olay products. Instead of absorbing into my skin, it sat on the surface in weird patchy areas, then bunched up and sloughed off. I spent the first 2 weeks just switching the order I applied all my other creams trying to get this to rub in smoothly.

DS Labs: Revita EPS (lash growth serum), Viterol A (wrinkle cream), Trioxyl PM (acne gel)

Thank you DS Labs, for sending me such a wide array of products! After reading the materials on each product, I was hooked! They take a really scientific approach to solving problems which I like and the science behind the products made sense. Their whole line is based on using nano technology to deliver active ingredients where they need to go to grow hair & lashes, and reduce wrinkles & acne. Unfortunately, none of them worked.

Let’s talk about the acne gel first:

DS Labs Trioxil.PM Anti-Acne Gel

DS Labs Trioxil.PM Anti-Acne Gel

The acne gel was the one I was most excited about. I hate my wrinkles, but I hate my pimples more! And I hate how all the acne medications dry your skin making wrinkles (you guessed it) worse!! This acne gel promises to inactivate bacteria, decrease seborrhea, dissolve lesions, and evacuate pores all without drying skin. It’s an amber colored gel that glides onto skin and absorbs quickly. It has kind of a funky smell, kind of fruity, but not fresh fruit. I even had myself convinced it was working… until I looked at the before & after photos:

Very disappointing, but you’re probably here for the results on the wrinkle cream:

DS Labs Viterol.A

DS Labs Viterol.A

The wrinkle cream sounded equally as promising! On the box it says that Viterol.A is clinically proven to reduce dramatically the appearance of skin aging around the eyes without resorting to Botox or surgery. It deploys Nanosomes (organic microspheres 200 times smaller than human skin cells) to encapsulate active ingredients and release their cargo over 15 hours. I used the eye serum 2X a day for 30 days and the face cream 2X a day for 15 days (they sent it a couple of weeks later).

Still have my fingers crossed for some results on the lash growth serum!

DS Labs Revita.EPS

DS Labs Revita.EPS

This was the one I thought would definitely work since there are other lash growth serums that work out there (I just don’t want to use those because they can change your eye color – yikes!). Revita says it’s a cutting-edge treatment that’s clinically demonstrated to grow eyelashes 25% longer in 2 weeks! Like the other products, I applied it twice a day every day for a month. Wow, ok can I stop showing you super close ups of my wrinkled, bloodshot eyes now?? Moving on.

Urban Decay Primer Potion (Anti-Aging Formula)

Urban Decay Primer Potion Anti Aging

Urban Decay Primer Potion Anti Aging

The original formula of this eyelid primer has a cult following. I used it years ago when it was packaged in a little genie bottle, but the packaging wasted so much product I never re-purchased it. Now it’s in a squeeze tube and they offer an anti-aging formula that’s supposed to improve your eyelid skin in 8 weeks of use while making your eyeshadow stay of flawlessly all day! I was on my way to get yet another Mac Paintpot when I saw the anti-aging UD Primer Potion and decided to give it a try. To cut to the chase, I’m returning the Urban Decay and getting the Paintpot. With the Primer Potion, my eyeshadow clumped up in my crease and the rest of the lid was worn off after 6 hours.

I’m not saying all these things are horrible, they just didn’t work for me. Have you tried any of the products reviewed here? Let me know if they work for you…
